    Summary of Experience

I have successfully completed my semester long internship at the Mackal Field House Campus Recreation at the University of Rhode Island located in Kingston, RI. As the Intern Instructor of the Mind and Muscle fitness connection program, where I assisted in conducting and directing the psychological group support meeting and other various events. I interned under Christina Savoie, The fitness and wellness Specialist for the Henry H. Mackal Field House. My internship program involved an opportunity for 10 URI women/students who are interested in building a mind and body fitness connection in order to build and create self-confidence and strength in each individuals about themselves. Going through this program, I was able to discover the connection and rewards of building a strong mind and a strong body in women to help create powerful self esteem and self worth.

This program aimed to prove the quote which says “I’m not strong for a girl, I’m just strong” which I made sure to remember and always keep with me as I went through the program. I would definitely say that, I experienced the importance of endurance because of the challenging activities I participated in during the program everyday. I also experienced how to motivate and be motivated, building self-confidence, growing my strength levels, leadership qualities and professional skills. Since this program only involved females just because the program aimed to be able to prove certain stereotypes wrong about the fact that women are considered not as strong or as capable as men when performing certain physical task in our society, I was able to connect, interact, share and learn from the other female participants in the program about confidence and assertiveness together. During this program, I was able to engage in other campus recreational events by directing and conducting other forms of promotional activities and events handled in Campus Rec around the college campus.

Overall, this program made me accomplish a sense of mental and body connection, improved physical appearances & self confidence, maintaining a strong healthy body lifestyle and also being able to implement all learned motivational support information and exercise into our daily lifestyle.
